Dreyfuss didn't recognise his OWN line IN REAL LIFE?????????!

... He was IN it!!!!!!!!! I knew that was from "Jaws" before I'd even seen it, for crying out loud!!!!!!!

The luck is gone, the brain is shot; but the LIQUOR - we still got!

... They put that scene in the script because he made the same mistake in real life, too... !

That which is not yet, but ought to be, is more real than that which merely is.

reply

that is true. i heard about that a while back while he was being interviewed.

If someone wants to nitpick about it (and I say this in jest), the line he quotes in this movie is incorrect. Dreyfuss actually said, "This is no boat accident." He did not say (as Emilio says), "This is no boatING accident." So no wonder he didn't know, it's not the exact line! Just joking around...

I watched Jaws again on the new DVD then watched Stakeout later and made the connection.

When you've exhausted all options, even the impossible starts to look feasible...

Well, it was from 20 years before, plus how many films has he done since then? Also, he did have drug problems in the 80's so that could've hurt his memory.

It must have done, pretty badly, because as I said originally:

I knew that was from "Jaws" before I'd even seen it, for crying out loud!!!!!!!

It's made from bits of real panther, so you know it's good...

reply

Yeah, but did you have drug problems? That is my point.

reply

I know, and I was in agreement.

Drug problems in the 80s? How about in the 90s when his Lexus "jumped a curb" (quoting the L.A. Times) in Studio City? I've never seen a jumping Lexus.
