Only a blind person would choose Amanda over Watts

I'm not saying that looks are what should determine relationships but all anybody seemed to say about her for the first hour or so was how insanely "beautiful" Amanda was... Are you kidding me? Even with the short hair (that I know some people don't like) Watts was far and away more stunning.
But seriously? Lea Thompson aint bad looking but Mary Stuart Masterson totally blows her out of the water.

Hi!

I agree Mary Stuart Masterson is totally hot in this movie and much cuter than Lea Thompson. However I think the moviemakers knew that too and that is kinda why the movie works. As a guy you're kinda looking at Watts and going "Why isn't he going out with her" because she is so beautiful but he's kinda blinded by stereotypes and what he thinks he wants which is what makes the ending so good when he sees the light. Only Mary Stewart Masterson can make crying look so sexy!

I personally think it wasn't so much Amanda or Watts looks. Keith decided he wanted something that he couldn't have. Amanada although from his neigbourhood was running with the rich popular crowd. Keith might have thought of that as a challenge and decided to go for it. Keith and Watts also have been friends for a long time so you tend not to see someone's appearance seperately from your friendship. It wasn't until he realized that Amanada wasn't what he wanted after being wakened up with painting/soul speech Amanada gives him at the Hollywood Bowl.

I guess I better go and see the ophthalmologist then, because I would take Lea Thompson over Mary Stuart Masterson every day of the week, and twice on Sundays, especially if I had enough Viagra.

I always had a thing for Lea Thompson, starting in All the Right Moves, through Back to the Future, and continuing here. That's just a personal movie-star crush kinda thing.

Now, don't get me wrong, MSM is very cute and extremely doable as Watts. But Amanda is a hottie.

I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

Comparing the two in the locker room was all it took for me. Amanda Jones FTW...

Watts was cute but she looked and acted like a boy. For Christ's sake she wore boxers for underwear! On top of that she wore the same smelly outfit every day. I wouldn't say that she blew Amanda out of the water - they both are pretty and Amanda did dress like a woman should. What guy wouldn't want her over Watts?

Hey Linda..........You're a bitch!

I have perfect vision, and I'd have picked Amanda Jones every day of the week and twice on Sunday over Watts

I agree with the OP's position. I'd take Watts over Ms Jones, but by no means
would I pass up the chance to nail Amanda. It's only if I had to choose one or
the other that I'd go with Watts. And for a long term relationship, Watts would
be the easy choice. Looks and body are only important for the initial hook up...
But...for a long term relationship, A great personality can make up for so-so
looks, but a crappy one can make the hottest girl in the world seem less
appealing than an beastly looking girl.

If Watts grew out of the tomboy schtick, she would have the advantage. Comparable features, and better personality.
I do not think Lea Thompson as Amanda Jones was all that. That blond Jenns was nailing on the side was hotter.

I remember seeing this movie and saying to myself "oh no, two of the most beautiful ladies on the planet going up against each other". MSM is totally hot, but to me Lea Thompson was like on another level from everyone else. Still is. But to choose between them, to difficult.

I thought the same thing when this movie came out. I was just getting into girls and both of them are cute but Watts gave me a major boner. I'm watching it right now, I haven't seen it since it came out and I still think she's cute.

She's Hollywood's idea of "unattractive" when in real life she'd have had guys all over her.
