John Hughes is best known for the Brat Pack films, but I could never get into them... This one, however, is one of my top favorites. I think it is very sweet, and I will always have a crush on Mary Stuart Masterson.

i don’t separate this film from the “brat pack films”. i think the brat pack is subjective in a way. it’s a shermer high school film like the other 5
shareSome Kind of Wonderful was filmed in the summer of 1986 in San Pedro, CA, at the real-life San Pedro High School. In the film, they show the name of the school where the action takes place as "San Pablo High School" by changing 3 letters on the actual sign above the real school's main entrance.
I recognize that many John Hughes films took place at a "Shermer High School" and were filmed in Illinois. Some Kind of Wonderful is not one of them.
