Margaret Whitton

Had to start a thread regarding the talented Whitton's turn here as Auntie Vera...Whitton steals every scene she is in here just as she did in the MAJOR LEAGUE films...a great actress who never quite achieved the stardom she deserved.

I agree. She definately has talent and stage presense.

Indeed. And her acting makes Helen Slater's that much worse by comparison.

The first time I saw this movie, I thought it was Sigourney Weaver.

Yeah she is great in this film. She acts everyone off the screen. She is super hot as well!

reply

It's the best character in the film, too.

reply

Margaret is so hot in both, "The Secret of My Success" and "Major League."

She's one of the women that got me interested in MILFs later in life :) I love the mature woman seduction; they are the best in bed.

Margaret Whitton is criminally underrated. I agree with the OP - she should have had a bigger career. She is fantastic in this film.

In fact, the best scenes in the film are all Whitton's. She gives the film its energy. She steals every scene.

She was hilarious, I loved how she delivered some of the lines that otherwise might have fallen kind of flat, or wouldn't have stood out as they did. She just put something extra into everything she said and did:

- That was a very expensive vase, you b****.

- Turn the key, shift the gear, step on the gas. Any moron can do it, even my husband. (or something like that.)

- Oh, you don't have to, Howard. You're fired.

She almost steals the movie. Of all the leads she really makes Helen Slater's performance look wooden.
