Charlie should have ended up with Dixie

While Roxanne sort of redeemed herself by accepting Charlie's nose at the end of the film, she was just so vapid and demanding in most of it.

I saw Dixie as a much better fit for Charlie. They were good friends, clearly comfortable with each other, and were a better match age and appearance wise. Anybody else think the same or am I off my rocker?

You're not off your rocker. I like their chemistry but it's more of a sibling vibe. Which is comfortable and honest, nice. But the spark, the flame, is missing. That's clearly what Roxanne wants. She's going after a comet - and Charlie just deserves something spectacular because he's so unique. That's one of the first things he notices about Roxanne is simply her name, commenting about how unusual it is as if he relishes the idea. They seem perfect for each other in the long run as well. Intelligent and excited by more unique and authentic things.

I'm with you. Dixie was a great lady and friend, but she apparently only liked CD as a buddy. She is the one who ends up revealing his identity after all which ultimately gets them together.

I disagree. I think Dixie's was a case of unrequited love. Compare her reaction when it is clear that CD is in love with Roxanne to when Roxanne tells CD that she's interested in Chris. The same dejected acceptance. Dixie knew she could never have CD's heart, so out of selfless love she was the catalyst that brought CD and Roxanne together.

Interesting theory. Wonderful movie any way you look at it.

I never got the feeling that Dixie had unrequited feelings for CD. I think they both gave off a friends/siblings vibe. CD is her god-brother, after all (whatever the heck *that* is)!

Cousins rarely have romantic attachments. That's what Dixie and Charlie were in the film.

Bored now.

Was she married? I kind of felt she was but they did seem like friends. I think she "loved" him as a friend. Her advice was too selfless and revealing CD as the letter writer was actually a very kind thing to do for both of them.

I agree with !!!deleted!!!, but I think it may be more of an acting issue than a character issue.

I think Hannah's Roxanne was annoying and off-putting even when she was trying (or supposed to be) sweet and charming. I honestly thought the movie would end with Charlie realizing that ditzy blondes aren't worth the trouble (looks are unimportant the lesson here) and he would have ended up with Dixie, particularly after she was trying selflessly to help Charlie with his crush on Roxanne.

Charlie: "You did that for me? Why would you do that?"
Dixie: "I just want you to be happy Charlie, even if it means it's not with me"..

Us: awwwwwwwwwwwww...

Wasn't Dixie the bartender who ran off with the fireman guy?
