Sound sfx

Does anyone know how they made the sound special effects for this movie? I'm looking for Robocops step sounds, him turning his body parts around, ED 209 steps and so on. I cant't imagine how they did it.

Actually, that's a very good question. As far as the footsteps go, I found this:

Well, forget it! I'm not doing it! This episode was badly written!

Nice, thanks!

Lol I thought they just used a drum machine for the footsteps sound

The sound complements Weller's performance nicely. Imagine him without all the sfx, and it becomes clear how important they are. And very memorable sfx, too, like the humming sound that emanates from RoboCop.

Even aside from the robot fx, I think the sound in this film is very well done. It was deservedly nominated for an Academy Award.

If you watch a "Behind the scene" for Robocop 2, you can hear Weller acting in the suit without any sfx at all. It's really plastic sounding.

Yeah the sounds were a huge element in making Weller's performance exceptional. Can't have one without the other though.

I think my favorite sound effect is the leg holster closing up. I don't know why.

DISPLAY thy breasts, my Julia!

I don't know about the foot hitting the ground sounds, but I remember on one of the documentaries, the general robotic sounds of his movement were created from an old VHS recorder. ;-)

That's cool 
