Pale Rider!!!

I'm watching this right now, for the first time in years, and only just realised the scene where the gold prospector that's carrying the big chunk of gold, gets shot to death by the sheriff and his deputies, is very similar to Murphy's death in Robocop.

The killers are lined up in front of the guy, they play with him for a while, but then open fire until their leader, the sheriff, puts a single bullet in his head.

I really can't believe I missed this, as I've seen PR at least twice. Perhaps Frank Miller saw the film, or was it Verhoeven?

Frank Miller didn't write RoboCop...he wrote RoboCop 2

Idc who wrote it, just remember miller from his cameo role. Just someone nicked that scene from pale rider.

It's no secret the writers were influenced by Miller's The Dark Knight Returns, so it's entirely possible something of Pale Rider also made it in there. After all, there's some western in RoboCop. Sure, it could've been Verhoeven, but it's more likely Miner and Neumeier who made the reference.

It's been a while since I've seen Pale Rider, and I can't remember the scene. This is all just guesswork.
