Yeah the doctor sounded like he was just going through the motions. I don't know if that's what the film makers intended but that's how it always sounded to me.

Well, Doctors have to make and attempt to save a life, that's only their jobs. They can't just see a guy like Murphy come in and say, "well damn, this guys screwed", and just walk away.
shareall the mans arm getting blown off suppose they shot off murphy's leg. that would have been way too much blood. he surely would have been long dead before the paramedics could save him. then his tissue would not have been harvested by OCP and no movie.
