Are Evelle and Gale gay?

Having watched "Raising Arizona" again yesterday (Aug 10,2016 on HBO), I seemed to notice that the convict pair of Evelle and Gale (and perhaps their names) are gay. They're always together, and look out for each other. They're partners, and they want to adopt a baby together.

It's a nice touch.

They were actually brothers. Nothing was really stated about what their sexuallity was in the movie...

I'm calling TROLL on this one. The movie makes it pretty obvious they are brothers.
