Princess Bride Remake

First of all,
I would like to say that this is my favourite movie of all times.
I have watched it numerous times. I know the movie by heart.
I also have read the book and it made me love the movie even more.

I don't think this movie can be better than it already is.
But for some reason I keep thinking about a remake for the Princess Bride.
Today I saw they are going to make a remake for another classic movie (IMO), The Twelve Monkeys.

Now I wonder, when and if they will go through making a remake of the Princess Bride.
Is it a matter of time?
What do you think?

reply

Wasn't Twelve Monkeys a remake of a French film?

There are certain movies you just cannot remake. These include films like The Wizard of Oz, It's a Wonderful Life and The Princess Bride. Any attempt to do so would be EXTREME folly.

reply

I'd rather they make a cinematic version of the sequel, Buttwrcup's Baby, with a modern day cast.

reply

Or a sequel to BB, with the original cast?

The grandson is now the father.

Fezzik died I guess. Or moved to Greenland.

reply

Except it probably wouldn't turn it very well if Goldman himself couldn't figure out how to finish writing the book.

reply

Well, the 12 monkeys remake is not really a remake but a tv series. I tried to watch it but gave up after a few episodes. Just didn't hook me. A big part of the main movie was the actors in it.

As for The Princess Bride, given the dearth of new ideas out of Hollywood and the penchant for remaking everything, I suppose there inevitably will be a remake or a reboot or whatever. It will be a bad idea.

Please no.

Why? What would be the point? It was already done perfectly.
