Cary Elwes looks just like Douglas Fairbanks Jr.
Watched Gunga Din with Douglas Fairbanks Jr. again tonight and it never fails to amaze me how much Elwes looks like him when he did The Princess Bride. Wonderful.

The physical resemblance isn't actually that strong, but IMHO Elwes copied his way of speaking and mannerisms.

It was pretty obvious it wasn't an accidental resemblance.
shareTPB was a very successful and light parody of some old movie tropes, so Elwes as Fairbanks isn't surprising. I hope you have seen The Prisoner Of Zenda with Ronald Colman and DFJ. An old fashioned swashbuckler I had heard of but never saw until recently. I had trouble figuring out the plot but once the action started the story didn't seem to matter.
