THIS MOVIE SHOULD NEVER BE REMADE!
end of story!
shareHear, hear!
I don't know what is wrong with the world - but I know how to fix it.
Put simply, and for this reason above all else, there is quite literally, not a single person alive today in the world, that could play Fezzik. No special effect ever conceived of compares to actually having a 7-5, 550+ man with muscles the size of bowling balls playing a giant.

Paul Wight aka the Big Show

No comparison. The Big Show is listed at 7-0, 485#. Andre was listed at 7-4, 520#. Craziness.
shareAndre was listed as 7'4", but was only about 6'10" in later life. Wrestlers are always billed as being taller than they are :-) The Big Show could do a great job of Fezzik, but The Great Khali matches the description in the novel better. He looks more Turkish than The Big Show.
shareClose, but no cigar!

I agree with everyone on this thread. There are just sometimes in the movie industry that you catch lightening in a bottle. This is one of those times/movies where it happened. This movie has such a "cult" following because of how magically perfect it is. The scenery, direction, acting, characters were exquisitely complete.
The confluence of events/actors just cannot happen again. The other problem is that because of the immense love for this movie; even if the remake was extremely well made, the current fans would never accept it. It would almost be like trying to remake The Godfather, or Citizen Kane.
Yep...I would be very, very sad if anyone in Hollywood decided that a remake of this one should be done.

This is one movie I have to agree on for no remake.
