GW BAILY (Harris) is MUCH BETTER THAN Art Metrano (Mauser)
thank GOD GW Baily replaced the lame Art Metrano, who is better doing serious roles. Harris was much funnier.
Making this the best PA since part 1.

I liked both Harris and Mauser. No, Mauser was pretty funny as the snarky commandant. Captain Harris was better just because Harris is awessome.
I really thought both men were quite funny and oddly so interchangable in the various movies of the Police Academy franchise. Both of them were great as the antagonists (of sorts) along with the dimwitted Proctor. They all did a wonderful job!

Both were cut from the same cloth in the sense they were both ambitious and willing to step on their own mothers' toes to advance in their careers.

I missed Harris so much in 2 and 3. Mauser was just filler, and he wasn't half as good as Harris. He was a weasely little suck up. I think Proctor had better chemistry with Harris than Mauser, too.
shareNothing against Art, but I don't think Mauser was a very necessary character after the second film. He's a city cop, and suddenly having him running a rival police academy didn't seem right to me. Baily probably should've been in BACK IN TRAINING.

I agree. Both men are talented, but continuity never seemed to be that important to the filmmakers (e.g. Proctor acting like the Blue Oyster was new to him when he & Harris visited there in Part 4, after Proctor had already been there in 3).
shareWe're talking about Proctor here. The guy is a moron.
shareI really like Mauser, partly due to sentimentality as I saw the second part first, and always remembered the shampoo/glue scene, and I like the reversal of it in 3. But Harris is just genius, he carries the movies he's in. In so many ways these guys are the real leads of the films, I think.
Move IT! Move IT! MOVE IT!

Harris is the antagonist of the movies. They are usually always the most memorable. I liked Mauser, but he didn't have any memorable quirks and traits like Harris with his swagger stick, his "Move it, move it, move it" and all that.
Harris is a legend.
