The most enthusiastic crowd EVER

You know there really must not have been much of anything going on in Vegas in 1985. I mean that convention center or wherever the hell they were competing was filled to capacity and those people were cheering like it was the Super Bowl. That's an impressive amount of enthusiasm for a "sport" that has about as much action as someone answering the phone.

That's why I love this movie, it's so Over The Top.

I also have a soft spot for movies about sports/activities that have this way of sucking you into their little world, despite the fact I don't follow that activity AT ALL.

Take Airborne, Side Out, or Days of Thunder for example. Same type of thing going on there.

Wwll, I suppose most of them were gamblers cheering for the money they bet.

You obviously have never seen a real life Darts World Championship. They get much more enthusiastic. And it's darts!

Do you want me to slow him down sir? or are you sending in more guys for him to beat up?

Most likely they were there to gamble on the Competition. People will gamble on just about anything.
