Kids age

The actor playing his son as listed as being born in june of 1971. The movie was released in 1987. So it was probably filmed in 86. So he was most likely 15??? He looks and acts maybe 12 at most..Does anyone know when the movie was filmed and how old the kid was during filming? Something def. seems off..

He was probably just playing younger, being 15 (or possibly 14 during filming) and playing a 12 year old isn't really that much of a stretch for Hollywood. They often have 30 year olds pretending to be teenagers.

or maybe not lol http://www.youtube.com/SunbeltRyders

Going by David Mendenhall's appearance in Over The Top, released 13 February 1987, and in They still Call Me Bruce, released in May, 1987, I think that They still Call Me Bruce was filmed significantly before Over The Top.

Going only by his apparent ages, I would guess that They still Call Me Bruce MIGHT have been filmed in 1984, the year he turned 13, and Over The Top MIGHT have been filmed in 1985, the year he turned 14.

I think that I vaguely remember that David Mendenhall still looked childlike and not teenaged in several episodes of Our House in 1987-1988 as J.R. Dutton. But he should have been fifteen going on sixteen when they were filmed. Anyway, if he looked older in Our House than in Over The Top, Over The Top might have been filmed in late 1985 or early 1986.

Of course, the official ages of child actors are often incorrect, though they are usually claimed to be younger than their real ages.
