The biggest plot hole of all time

During the tournament at the end, they keep reminding you that it's double elimination. But when stallone wins at the end, no mention of the double elimination.

reply

Because the double elimination stipulation doesn't apply to the final match. Simple as that friend.

reply

This.

Poorly Lived and Poorly Died, Poorly Buried and No One Cried

reply

i watched it last night and thought exactly the same thing. the announcer states it at least 4 times that if you lose you have a second chance. i understand that maybe in the final match it wouldn't count, but they could have at least mentioned that as they mentioned the other clause over and over again.

reply

Not so much a plot hole.. but the double elemination only applies to the qualifying rounds.. what gets me as former champ.. why does Bull even have to compete? Shouldn't his place as champ be secured?

reply

In what other sport do the champs get to play in the championship game automatically because they won it the year before? Not in any major ones I know about. Does the team who wins the NCAA Tournament automatically get a championship game appearance the next season? Does the team who wins the Super Bowl automatically get in the next year? Yeah, you make no sense. Every single year, major sports crown a champion, and then they play the entire season over again the year after to crown a new champion. That's how sports work.

reply

Just to play devils advocate, this is how Daniel LaRusso gets his title defense in Karate Kid III. The all valley tournament grants Daniel a waiver to only appear in the championship match to defend the title.

reply

NO! Of course he would have to qualify, that's like saying the Giants won last years Super bowl they go right to the finals again. Your defending champion but you still have to compete.

reply

The biggest plot hole of all is that this truck driver shows up at boarding school with an obviously fake wedding photo as his only proof of paternity, and wants a little boy to take home.

A lot of truckers do it...

reply

Because it was the final match. Lose-twice-and-you're-out only applies to the previous matches in the tournament, not the final one. In the final match, the first one to win, wins the tournament.

reply

No the biggest plot hole to me is "here's 500 grand and a the best truck money can buy" and Hawk says "no".

He already lost the boy - because the boy wanted to stay - why didn't he take the *beep* He could even take the *beep* and still go for the boy.

reply

Obviously you are not familiar with Sly. I pity you.

reply

I just watched it and I could have sworn that when I watched it years ago that Bull did lose an earlier match but then beat him the very next one. This time of course I was looking for it and it didn't happen.

reply

Millsey? Is this true?

reply

This was Stallones best movie. There are no plot holes in it
