I think in the very early VHS days it was Into the Fire but then when it got re-released on VHS and DVD they changed the song for some reason or another. I remember it being different when I saw it on DVD.

The original home video release had a song called "Quiet Cool" (I believe). Something about not being able to secure the rights to Dokken's "Into the Fire" for the home market.

Also of note, my original VHS has a sticker on it that says it contains the "Dream Warriors" video by Dokken. Sadly, I was very disappointed that it want not on the tape, as I have always been a Huge Dokken fan!

From Wikia:

In the original VHS release of the film, during the opening sequence, a hard rock instrumental version of the song "Quiet Cool" is playing. The original version of that song, performed by Joe Lamont, was written for the movie with the same name in 1986. When Dream Warriors was released on DVD, the song that was on the original theatrical release, "Into the Fire" by Dokken, was reinserted.

One more thing: I don't know about the blu-ray but "Into the fire" was restored on the DVD release (at least as far as I know, I have the 2nd printing of the original DVD box set. It doesn't contain the DVD rom program from Toggle This), but the film has "Into the Fire" playing on Her boombox.

I got the original VHS back in the 80s and remember the Dokken sticker, but mine actually had the music video on it after the film's closing credits.

I never knew the song Kristen plays was different in the theatrical cut and it threw me off big time when I eventually got it on DVD and heard Into the Fire. I actually think Quiet Cool fits the scene better and it's funny how I can even remember the beat of the song despite getting rid of my VCR over a decade ago.

I grew up with this on VHS so when I upgraded to DVD as an adult the song was definitely a surprise. I'm used to it now but it still catches me off guard now and then as my 8 - 16 year old brain was used to 'Quiet Cool'.
