Maybe Dr. Simms actually knew about Freddy.

And was one of the parents who murdered Freddy in life. Maybe she was like the Sherriff and other adults in Freddy Vs. Jason and was just trying to keep these kids in the institution to keep them from telling other kids about Freddy. And tried to convince them Freddy wasn't a real person to try and make them not dream about him. Her plan was a failure but maybe that's really what she was doing.

Simms was a bitch and I wish Freddy would have visited her one night.

Solid theory. I hate that she survives in this movie.

That...actually makes A LOT of sense. We know Westin Hills becomes the epicenter for quarantining Freddy patients, keeping them medicated so they simply think they're insane. How could it be so hard to believe that after the events of NOES 1 AND NOES 2, the town finally admitted it's mistake and covertly tried to cover it up.

Perhaps Dr. Simms's previous method was simply to wait the children's deaths out. Yes, about 8 or 9 children would die but for the greater good of Springwood, they wouldn't transfer the virus that is Freddy Krueuger to anyone else. BUT Nancy Thompson gave her a better method: Hypnocil. It would make sense that such an unethical doctor would eventually be perfectly fine with a dangerous and theoretical drug. Likewise, we see in Freddy vs. Jason that the drug eventually lands you in a coma. If Dr. Simms original plan was wait out the children's deaths, it'd make sense she and her other colleagues would be okay with comatose teens as an alternative to dead ones. Atleast for the sake of their own consciences.

Heck, if this is true, her plan technically would have worked!! Not counting Nancy Thompson herself, Westin Hills managed to wrangle up ALL the remaining Elm Street Children from around the nation. I mean, what an interesting coincidence that ALL of them found their way to Westin Hills despite some of them not even being anywhere near Springwood anymore. Simms original plan would have had all the remaining Elm Street Children killed in "attempted suicides" thus stopping the curse of Freddy for good!! But, little Nancy Thompson had to go and interfere, getting Patient 0 (Aka telepathically gifted Kristen Parker) released. She then went on to be the ENTIRE reason NOES 4 and 5 even happened!!

...LoL!! Suddenly, I'm actually liking Dr. Simms. She's the REAL hero

It is a bit weird that Simms doesn't get that suddenly all of her patients are dreaming about the exact same thing. I can get that maybe one or two are influencing the others, but that doesn't explain Kristen at all since she's new to the ward yet experiencing the exact same dream but hasn't had contact with any of the ward's patients as of that point.

She's not much of a hero. She has a solid point about subjecting the kids to hypnocil, but otherwise she was quite ineffective. Maybe she was at the end of her rope and relying too much on her training and not enough on realizing something really strange was going down.

So, not so much a prequel to Freddy vs. Jason with Westin Hills being "Freddy Quarantine" and more so a stubborn, old psychiatrist who refused to believe she couldn't save even a single child?

Hmm...either way, it does make me see Simms in a different light, y'know? Either she was secretly trying to be a part of the solution or was just so frustrated she couldn't save a single life, she resorted to grizzled spurts of anger. Regardless, her jobs sucks. :p

Simms was against the idea of Hypnocil and wanted to sedate the kids so they would be forced to dream. If she knew about Freddy, then she would have known that these actions would be sending them to their deaths.

The idea of knowledge and fear of Freddy giving him the power to invade dreams never came up until Freddy vs Jason. At this point, it was accepted that Freddy could only enter the dreams of the children of the parents that murdered him. So quarantining them from the rest of the town wouldn't have mattered.

Whatever her deal was, she was an ignorant, closed minded, know it all that needed a date with Freddy's claws to get it through her thick skull that maybe...JUST maybe...since these kids that don't know eachother and this new woman (Nancy) ALL know about the same killer in their dreams, might just be on to something. Maybe learn to have an open mind and realize it's not 1950 anymore and just a "good night's sleep" might not solve the problem. Unless she WANTS them all dead. I despise that woman. Always wanted to punch that woman in the jaw so it would have to be wired shut so she'd finally STFU.
