My favorite b-horror.

Thats right, its #1! My top 20 most watched movie of all time too.

I was raised on this movie. I would stay at my grandparents house, and of course they would fall asleep early, and of course I'd be up all night.

So, I'm stuck awake in a big house all alone. So what do I do??? Watch HBO!!

Night of the Demons was always on, and it scared the holy bejebus out of me. I was always relieved when Nightbreed, or Killer Klowns from Outer Space came on instead.. lol

For those talking about the soundtrack.. I heard the voices and the original score were hard copied together... Meaning, no way to separate the 2. I did download the soundtrack someone had extracted from the movie. It has the dialogue still, but better than nothing for us fans.

Atleast "The Beast Inside" is uninterrupted, what more do we need? hehe

I'm with you on this one. I first saw it on cable years ago as well and it has become a real favorite of mine. Gross and funny and scary. They don't make good cheap-o horror flicks like this anymore. I now watch it every Halloween after the little demons are gone.

Right there with ya. I caught this sometime in the late 80s or very early 90s on Cinemax (I believe) and loved it. I was scared but entertained and thought it was the most badass thing ever. Took me many years to remember the name.... fortunately, I discovered "Demons" (1985) in the process....

its funny how this led you to finding demons because for me it was the other way. both are great and must be viewed by more people.

hail to the king baby

I actually saw this in the theater when it came out many, many years ago. It was the first time I'd ever seen Linnea Quigley, and she made quite an impression on me (if you remember the way she first appears in this movie).

I wouldn't say it's my favorite b-horror film, but it's a very fun movie. It's nice that it still has so many fans.

One of my favorite horror films :)
Rented the video every week and watched on tv every time.
Definitely not a "B" movie... You better check the definition of that term.
Just because a movie is from the 80's or done with a low budget doesn't mean its a "B" film. I guess A Nightmare on Elm Street is a "B" movie as well...
This movie is very affective.

reply

If anyone is wondering why exactly I defended this classic from being stereotyped as "just another B film".... is because the person who started this thread referred to Night of the Demons as their favorite "B film"... which is obviously incorrect.
BUT!!! I guess this person went against their better judgment after reading my post cuz "they" EDITED their original thread entry.
EDUCATE YOURSELF BEFORE LABELING AND GENERALIZING.
mission accomplished :)

Actually, no. A movie done on a low budget with no big-name stars (though on occasion, a big-name actor will put in an appearance, albeit a brief one) generally qualifies as a B-Movie. So yes, technically A Nightmare On Elm Street would qualify as a B-Movie, as would Friday The 13th and its multitude of sequels, and pretty much any horror movie of the 1980s.

Also: The word you're looking for is "effective". I'm not even sure "affective" is a weird, chief.

reply

The "B-movie" term is commonly misused and has evolved over the years.
A B-movie has many connotations, you fool.
But don't fret, son, it's a natural misconception.
Affective is indeed a word...
Get a job.

reply

So... when you said that Night of the Demons (or whatever it was) was "affective", you meant that it was "influenced by or resulting from the emotions,"
or "concerned with or arousing feelings or emotions; emotional"?

"Son", you need to buy yourself a dictionary. ;)

reply

I shall ;) and you need proper parents who can teach you etiquette.
We both have a lot to learn.
Go watch Night of the Demons!

There are tons of B movies that I loved to watch and my first exposure to the B movie cult classics was when I happened to catch USA UP ALL NIGHT when I was 16 years old and they were showing Nightmare Sisters and Sorority Babes In The Slime Bowl O'Rama! I loved it and it was not until 1997 when I was able to watch the films unedited because I bought the VHS version of the movies. There are a tons more out there that I loved and would sit and watch out there right now including what I grew up watching.

This actually used to be one of my favorite horror movies. I remember thinking how scary it was, and how funny and cool the characters were. When I watch it now, it's not as scary, and some of the bad acting sticks out. I still like it, though. It's got great atomosphere, and some creepy, memorable and funny scenes/lines.

That is why I love watching B horror movies like this late at night on the weekends. Plus, Linnea Quigley was a legendary SCREAM QUEEN which was great to watch her in it. That is why I love low grade B movies especially if they are horror films. The acting is not the best, but it is so awful that you have to love it though. That is why I am trying to get USA UP ALL NIGHT back on so that late on Friday and Saturday nights for 4-6 hours can watch these low grade films late at night. They have nothing like this now at all. Pretty much all of the main networks have followed what everyone else is showing. This also includes TBS, TNT, and USA Network.

Those networks were cool to watch 15 to 20 years ago because they were nothing like everyone else at all. They would show films that no one else would show at all. I was in high school when I would watch USA UP ALL NIGHT and I did happen to catch Monster Vision which was hosted by Joe Bob Briggs on TNT. They would show some of the best low budget movies and it was great to watch! That is why the networks need to learn to show a little of everything. You can have your crime and drama shows, but cut away from them and show something that is going to appeal to another crowd of viewers. How do you feel about that?
