Bad DVD Transfer?
So I've been searching everywhere for an answer, but it seems like either no one knows or no one notices... why do some scenes in the DVD look absolutely horrible in comparison to the rest? It's really distracting.

It's because it was sourced from two different materials, a high definition scan of the rated version from MGM and a 1" master for the unrated scenes. Anchor Bay didn't realize they had received a cut version of the film until well after the process of preparing the film for release was under way so they went to the master tapes to composite and uncut version.
The new Blu Ray from Scream Factory due out next year is sourced from the negative.
Thanks a ton for the reply, much appreciated.
shareA lot of 80's anchor bay transfers are pretty inconsistent.
