One of the best B-horrors of the 80s *SPOILERS*

I don't know how this movie is rated so low. It obviously is no Schindler's List or anything, but this is about as good as b-horror 80s movies get. What's not to like? Ok admittedly the acting is awful, but there are so many ridiculously stupid one liners it actually makes you laugh. The demon make-up is well done and still freaky, and the slow start is built upon by ratcheting up the horror until by the end it is extremely fast paced and scary. And of course in true b-horror 80s style, it is full of attractive girls and lots of nudity. The body count is high and the haunted house setting mixed in with the demon plot is awesome. I think this is really underrated as far as 80s horrors, and I'm not even sure most people know what it is, which is sad, because to me it is a lot better than some other 80s horrors that just don't stand the test of time. Like compare this to the movie House (1986); This holds up ten times better and the make-up effects are actually still scary, House is just a joke now and the effects are terrible. While this obviously isn't Oscar worthy material, it is a solid film that accomplishes what it set out to do: Provide cheap thrills, sufficient gore, lots of nudity, ridiculous one liners, and a hodge podge of horror plot devices to give you a good scare in under an hour and a half. A great b-horror flick, even in 2012!
