The ending
So, did the grandma kill her grouch husband?
Or was it supposed to be a mistake, she baked a pie full of razor blade apples.

I took it as this: the old man was SO grouchy, he's the one putting razor blades in the apples every halloween, like in the urban legend. So the wife wakes up early, finds the extra apples with the blades, and kills her husband on purpose with the pie.
Any other theories?
"Andrew, we can't possibly be dead. We have cable." - Nothing
I got the impression she definately did it on purpose.
shareShe had to have done it on purpose. Just look at the way she brazenly kissed him on the forehead after watching his throat open up.

Its not clear that the wife saw her husband dying before her. It seems as if she's heard him grunting about the apples, because he always grunts, and then he dips his head in angst, the wife taking it as another expression of misery, and just kisses him on the forehead because its the same crap every year with the geezer. The ending was ambiguous. It can be taken several different ways. This was just my viewpoint of it.

I'm sure the woman knew what she did...I'm not a cook but when I've eaten apple pie there are apple slices in it so she did know there were razors in it.
Bingo, anybody who's ever made an apple pie knows if you cut one up and there's a razor blade in it, you WILL find it, it's all mash by the time it's baked but in the creating process they're small and thin.
shareYes, I'm sure she did it on purpose. He was such a rude, grumpy old man that living with him for as many years was probably miserable. I picture him talking down to her daily. She probably had enough of it and that was her payback. She could pretend it was a mistake in court, though.
