Very funny!
I really love this movie. Kim and Jeff are so good together. Kim as always superb beautiful. This type of romantic comedy is rare - watch it if you like the genre. IT's so adventorous!!!

shareI did see it in the theater when it opened in '87 (it was on cable early this morning)...
I'm old enough to remember when main-street stores had apartments or businesses above them, very similar to where Nadine's photos, er, art studies were taken - the Director's way of recreating that '50s street was very accurate (it woke up a memory or two in me, that's for sure)...
Kim Basinger's quick-wit character reminds me of Vicky Lawrence's character on the Carol Burnett Show - I gave Vicky's character the name "Thelma", for reasons I can't recall!
LOL
You were lucky to see this in the theater in 1987. I was going to a lot of movies then, but I don't even remember this playing. That was the same year as "Raising Arizona," which may have eclipsed this.
This definitely has a small-town '50s feel, and a lot of towns in the South and Midwest still look a bit like this – but with newer cars, of course.
Kim Basinger's character definitely reminds me of the Thelma Harper-type characters that Vicki Lawrence played. Talk about someone missing in action! She's causing a stir this month with this video:

I too missed this one back then. But I also talked my movie going lady friend out of seeing Easing Arizona which she would remind me now & then. Saw ton of films back then but was more on side of ones that were getting more 'attention' but darn if I can remember them unless saw list. Was after things like LA Confidental so did like KB and JB. Odd we passed over this one.
It's on a local OTV channel this late afternoon so gotta catch it along with a little know dance rom-com The In Crowd about the Philly Dick Clark TV scene.
Interesting how many lesser known films are filling up the 11.3 type channels.

Thanks for the mention of "The In Crowd." I need to seek that out. Those "extension" channels are a great resource for forgotten movies and TV series, even though the programming is trimmed quite a bit for length and content.
sharewww.thistv.com is the schedule for WPIX in NYC 11.3 and there's a couple others I forget to check. Most repeat the films during week but weekend ones might just play once. http://moviestvnetwork.com/ is a schedule, repeats.
And http://www.free-tv-video-online.me/ has several but often have to find the best feed. Saw Definance other day there under Movies. Decent two male players. True rough story handled well.
The In Crowd did ok job. Give it an 8 for effort, 7.5 if being harsh. There was an unexpected lovely moment toward end around a scene of bridal play done
for fans at a boardwalk beach that reminded me of Atlantic City music days.
Not like it's The Cream or The Boss or even a good Elvis flick but has some merit. Also caught first half of Roadie. Has some good name acts Meatloaf, BLondie, etc. Good for trying to be different, no so good as film.
Nadine lost me half way through. Have to catch the rest later. Awfully dark filming and just felt like I'd see so much of that kind.
Oh Cozitv is the other extension channel w/ a few choice films but ton of ads and repeats of old tv shows. Just for background filler. Better off with channels that have a theme like noir or 3 Bonds in a row. After that it takes something special to grab you. Veterans Day there's a day of war films with a few rare good ones - maybe on thistv. Oh it's a mix starting w/ war then some westerns thrown in that look good.

Thanks for the links. i'll check those channels out. Mostly I just buy old movies at thrift stores and yard sales. The more obscure the better – though this is somewhere in the middle.
shareI liked it. Good cast. Been wanting to see it for a long time and recorded it off Movieplex. I am a fan of the earlier Benton movie with a young Bridges, Bad Company (1972).
I love Bad Company, too.
I was just looking through Benton's filmography and came to this film. Is there any comparison?
I love Kim B, too, ever since I saw her in Batman as a boy.
Not really. Other than being a fun period piece with Jeff Bridges. Worth checking out as it seems to be a little underrated. Now I'd like to find The Late Show (1977). Never seen that one either.
