Pinky ring

My wife and I love this movie and watched it last night for about the 10th time. I noticed for the first time that when Loretta puts Johnnies pinky ring on after his proposal she puts it on the middle finger of her left hand but when Ronnie gives her the same ring art the end of the movie she puts it on her ring finger. Is there some significance to this?
