Who do horror movies always kill off their black actors? Seriously, his death was unneeded and the other characters didn't even react to it. Plus he was the only main character killed off. I'm not going to lie tho: the scene was shocking and hilarious.
In a way, his death was kind of needed. Dracula hadn't killed anyone up until that point in the film. The cop was a likable character and his death was unexpected. I really felt like it had an impact because of it.
My problem is that he was the only black character in the film. If there had been someone to survive him, his death wouldn't have been a problem. I mean, why couldn't one of the kids have been black?

Many of my friends asked this as well. While it is applauded that there was a black character who wasn't acting like a buffoon in this film (remember, these were the Eddie Murphy years), his death was meant to be heartfelt and important as it was a featured character. That character could have been played by anybody, and that is what I liked, this film actually had almost every type of actor in it.
