Everytime I ask what movie I am trying to remember, I get the answer Monster Squad, so hopefully coming to this board might help. What was the movie from the 80s, possibly late 70s, kind of a slapstick comedy with a bunch of monsters through some kind of rift in a house, and a boy is the main character, he's somehow connected to hell or a demon or something. Very lighthearted, can't remember much, think there was an uncle who was also something supernatural and a guide of some mind.. It is not Monster Squad.

Actually, I was thinking of "The Gate" as well...based on your description.

If you really want to find out what movie it is, write your memories into a script, have the movie made, and then when it's released, someone will sue you for plagiarism.

I know an earlier poster mentioned Saturday the 14th and you said not it. It could be its sequel Saturday the 14th Strikes Back which was very similar with the plot you described.

Totally with you. Watched Strikes Back when I was a kid and enjoyed it. Stumbled upon it years later and wondered what was I thinking, lol.
