I just watched this again, it's been one of my favorites since I was a kid. I was born in 1980 and this and the Goonies are my all time favorite movies. So glad I bought this on DVD.
Anyhow, I read through a lot of the threads on here and didn't see this mentioned. Maybe there was a deleted scene that I don't know about. How did Dracula know that Sean had Van Helsing's diary?
I was born in 1980 too. I just think it's one of those unexplained things. Remember, he knew they were after the amulet so he.probably just put two and two together.
Edit: I had just started watching it when I answered this and Dracula knows before they even go to Scary German Guy's house. So yeah, I'm not sure how he knew. The only thing I can think of is that Dracula knew that the amulet and the diary were in the same location and that someone bought the diary before they could get there but again, that doesn't explain how he knew who bought it.
Probably the lady who sold it to Sean's mom told him who purchased it.

I have no answers for you, but I always thought a good prequel for Monster Squad would be to explain how the amulet and diary came to be at the old house on Shadowbrook road.

Wasn'nt there a scene where Sean saw a phone message in the kitchen from a mister Alucard and figures out it was Dracula. I guess Dracula tracked it to them with info from the seller.
