'Mummy came in my house' meaning?

I love most of the jokes in this film, but I don't understand that one.
Eugene says Mummy came in my house 2-3 times, as a recurring joke.
However, I just don't get it.
Is there something I'm missing?

English is not my native language, so maybe that sentence is a pun or something?
Thoughts?

There's nothing to get. Eugene is a little kid. Mummy appearing in his house was a big deal. He's simply repeating it like a kid would.

reply

Fair enough.
But it's a bit odd that the filmmakers chose that (plain) joke, as the last joke in the entire film.

Without meaning to go too deep (this is Monster Squad, after all), I think Eugene, like any kid telling the truth, was happy just to keep repeating his story until someone believed him. His father didn't believe him, his squad-mates didn't (of course by the end they would have), so he tried the army guys.

Would have been nice if Eugene got the final word when the mummy was destroyed. "That was the same mummy the came in my house".

When his father comes in and tells all the monsters to leave, it cracks me up everytime

Typically in fiction, the authorities are the least likely to believe someone, and their friends and family the most likely. But here it's inverted: his dad and friends don't believe him, so he tries the military and they come running with guns blazing for a last-minute little gag at the end.

I mean, really, how many times will you look under Jabba's manboobs?

It's a tongue in cheek reference to his mom having an orgasm. Mummy came in my house. Of course kids don't get the joke, but that's what it is. In the movie, the actors are like ewwww....

reply

Agreed. It's just a really flat sexual innuendo.

reply

Agree, it's make sense, with a the nature of the humor in the movie- a strange mixed of childish and adult humor.
