Now available on (US) Netflix!
Saw this being added last week on the US Netflix! Haven't seen the movie since the mid 90's, so it was a blast seeing it again, especially as i was one who loved the cartoon and action figures as a kid!

shareYeah, I didnt even know this movie existed but I was searching movies on Sunday and this baby popped up! So thanks netflix for showing me a new 80's movie!
Oh I travel, a sort of licenced troubleshooter.
I saw it for the first time ever on Monday, on Netflix. I know IMDB says this movie is 1987, but I could have sworn seeing commercials for it in 1984/1985. Could just be memories being mixed up. But whatever, I remember my mom NOT wanting to take me to see it, and she didn't.
I thought Frank Langella was awesome as Skeletor, but Dolph Lundgren was dull as hell as He-Man. Overall, I thought the movie was just okay. I'm sure if I saw it in 1987 as a kid I might have a different opinion. I didn't expect much going in, didn't get much. Some of the costumes and settings were cool, though.
I had recently watched a video on YouTube called "Why Masters of the Universe and The Avengers are the Same Movie" so seeing that first added to the enjoyment.
Context: I was born in 1980, I would watch He-Man on TV, and I had a plastic Castle Grayskull that was huge (to a 6yo) with all the adornments (including Mecha-Neck whose head would go up and down as you twisted his body).
I think the last time I saw this movie was in the theater in 1987 or on VHS shortly thereafter.
Rewatching it tonight with an adult eye... yea it's a corny 80s movie from a cartoon but the first thing that comes to my mind is Frank Langella's excellence as Skeletor. Just... amazing.
Thank you, Netflix. :D
