Final Battle

I think it would have been cool if after invoking the power of Grayskull He Man's armor was restored to him for his final fight with Skeletor. I love this film as is but I just think it would have been extra cool to see He Man and Skeletor battle it out while they were both armored up.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

reply

Definitely. And I wish that He-Man got his powers back in another way... the way he did it made Skeletor look like a joke, after Langella's awesome monologue, at least.

Yeah Skeletor didn't seem to be as powerful as he thought he wound be. If I remember correctly I think the reason we didn't get a better final battle was because the higher ups were wanting to call it quits before the Director even filmed the final. 
Right before the final fight He Man and Skeletor clash their weapons together and a bright flash of energy engulfs the entire screen, that at one point was going to be the ending. Can you imagine that? weapons clash, bright light roll credits.
Wow anticlimactic ending indeed.
However the Director convinced his superiors to give him one more day to film an actual final fight, thank God. I think the final fight was pretty good all things considered and it was a thousand times better than what we almost got 

Yes, indeed.

It's funny that you mention He Man getting his powers back in an alternative way because..........
In the MYP 2002 animated series the story was going to be a bit different from what they went with. Originally Skeletor was to have obtained both halves of the Sword Of Power leaving Adam without a means of becoming He Man. Man At Arms (being the tech wizard that he is) was to construct an electronic Power Sword capable of tapping into Grayskulls power and thus allowing Adam to become He Man once again.

The idea was that this series would be a continuation of the original story line. Instead they started from scratch and went with an origins type story. This IMO was the right move as it was much better for developing Adam/He Man and Keldor/Skeletor as characters.

I agree, Jack-o-lantern.

I like your ideas.

Thanks man.

Man, what a bummer of an ending it would have been to have their weapons clash and then the credits roll. I like the fight as is, but it would have been cool if it were longer and a little more exciting for lack of a better word.

I remember reading that the intention was for the fight to have been bigger and more choreographed, but the studio was running out of money and they were gonna pull the plug on it as you said.

Yeah I remember reading that the set designer was disappointed because he designed the Grayskull set with an epic battle in mind and didn't feel it was used to its full potential.

I also remember the director saying he used some of his own money to shoot the final fight, that's how bad things were getting. This movie had a lot of obstacles to overcome but IMO it still turned out great. I truly adore this film and consider it a real gem.

I really like this movie too, and don't understand all of the hate that it gets throughout the Internet. IMDb is one place that people seem to like it.

I too think that it turned out well considering that Cannon didn't seem to quite know how to make movies and this one faced a lot of challenges. It would have been nice if the final battle happened the way it was intended, but I still like it. It may be a bit underwhelming and it's too bad that we will never see how it was supposed to go down, though as I said I really enjoy this movie.
