Thor: The Dark World

Did anyone else get a Masters Of The Universe vibe while watching Thor: The Dark World? I certainly did from it's costume and production design, it's dark yet playful tone and especially it's melding of sci-fi and fantasy elements amongst other things.

If they had of done a Thor movie back in the 80's Dolph Lundgren would have made a great Thor.

Funny, because I can see Hemseworth playing He-Man if the remake ever happens.

The Thor/Loki fight from the first movie reminded me a lot of the He-Man/Skeletor fight. What with the setting, the energy when the weapons collided and Loki's antler helmet looked like Skeletor's helmet when he received the powers of the universe.

Thor was created before The Fourth World.

Oh absolutely. I forget which came first, but I don't think it's any big mystery that Masters of the Universe is inspired heavily from things like Thor (Marvel) and the New Gods (DC), all of which is like a more space fantasy version of Greek mythology.

And they're both princes too. I wonder who would win a fight between them?

You are asking the wrong question - and here's why:

ALL these heroes are so called Archetypes

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archetype

...so it would basically be like asking: Who would win - me, or my other self from 5 minutes in the future? Who would win? You or You?

Every hero, or mythological god, or comic-figure with bascially the same traits - IS THE SAME.

Here's more similar heroes for you: Siegfried (German Mythology): He's blonde, muscular, a do-gooder and has a magic sword.

Or did you know about the fact that THOR is the SAME as the Indian God INDRA?

From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indra

Aspects of Indra as a deity are cognate to other Indo-European gods; they are either thunder gods such as Thor, Perun, and Zeus, or gods of intoxicating drinks such as Dionysus. The name of Indra (Indara) is also mentioned among the gods of the Mitanni, a Hurrian-speaking people who ruled northern Syria from ca.1500BC-1300BC.

But to answer your original question: The one where the artist behind (comic-author, movie-director etc.) decides to win of course :-)

I have always seen Chris Hemsworth as He-Man and having his brother player Adam. If a remake of He-man is ever made there who I would cast in the lead role and I would definitely like to see Adam in the movie along with cringer who would become battle cat. With the way he has played Thor makes him the best choice for He-man.

Another similarity between Thor and He-Man: they both had secret identities (Don Blake and Prince Adam) that were dropped for the movies (Although, in the first Thor, the name Don Blake is used to disguise him but they are two separate people and the real Blake is never seen).

And both Masters of the Universe and the 2011 Thor have boring earth subplots.
