Why no Orko?
That would have been fun...
shareThey couldn't do Orko because of the budget. Orko would have been to expensive so they kinda replaced him with Gwildor.
The budget was also the reason that the movie took place mainly on Earth. Out of curiosity how well do you like the film?
I liked Gwildor. Then again, I love this movie, so I'm not really objective here.
Shadows of the night
Same here, I think I actually prefer Gwildor over Orko, he's just a cool fun character. Billy Barty did a great job playing him. The Filmation Orko was pretty annoying, the MYP Orko was much better but I still favor Gwildor.
I'd eat Robby's Ribs and chill with Gwildor any day
Supposedly for budget reasons, probably because they couldn't have the character fly constantly. Course they could have just dropped that part, and made Orko a little person in a costume. But Orko was really just an annoying comic relief character. Gwildor has a lot of comic relief moments, but plays an important part in the story. I can't even imagine Orko being able to build a dimensional porter machine. At least intentionally.

budgetary due to the Effects of the Era...
between his hover/flight abilities and ever shaded face... he just would not translate to Live action and making him a walking 'little person' pushes into the territory of looking like a Technicolor Jawa... and then you risk Wrath of Lucas in court
as it was Gwildor was something of a Captain Ersatz... but he was too hobbit like, arguably he skewed toward another Race (the Widgets) that appeared a couple of times
Gwildor was cool.
Shadows of the night
WOW!! Everyone's turning against Orko now?
shareI like Orko!
He and Cringer were trapped in a dungeon.
i know right, orko was cool in his own right, orko had a girlfriend, he could spin, disappear and reappear, and was the only cartoon character i know, who had the decency, to fix the shows bumper, after he ripped it lol. it really bugs me, that they replaced him with gwildor in the film, and that there was no cringer, or no she-ra in the film. gwildor was a good character and all, but I'm use to orko.
