Why does Sam say this line?
Feldman tells him to ‘burn rubber’, Sam drives the car backwards and nearly off the cliff, then says the line to Feldman.
1) How does Warp Speed equate to going in reverse?
2) Surely Feldman should be saying the line to Sam since Sam’s the one who fucked up?
i think edgar (feldman) put his foot down on top of sams foot (which is on pedal) when he jump in car and he say "burn rubber".
i think it mean edgar is suppose to be tough vampire killer but he so panic that he step on sam foot so hard they almost go off cliff. meant as humor I think! sam is pissed at how scare Edgar is.
Warp speed was referencing flying, and Cory stepped in his foot.

Edgar (corey feldmans) says "burn rubbers" and puts his feets down on top of sam's feet which is on acceleration pedal. edgar want to go real fast because he is wussing out big time after his altercation in vampire cave! however, edgar (corey feldman) does not understand that sam (corey haim) have car in reverse gear. he think they are going forward. Sam (corey haim) says "burn rubber does not mean warp speed" because he slam his foot down so hard on top of sam's foot that they almost go off cliff! it basically mean tough guy edgar is actually very scared and wants to get out fast!

no i watch film again and edgar slam his foot down on top of sams! edgar the tough vampire killer is scared shitless and thinks vampires are coming after him and slams his foot down so hard they almost go off cliff hahaha. funny scene! legend film!

The joke would have worked better without the car going in reverse - this confuses things unnecessarily. ‘Warp speed’ implies going forwards fast, not going backwards.

i always find that this line sticks out. this is awkward silence after he say it! line feel slightly out of place. i guess they need to show everyone is on edge after coming out of vampires cave. everyone scared!
