Well, it’s sort of impossible to call it because Max passes the test. You strongly suspect him until that point but the movie does a great job of convincing you he’s cool because he seems to be according to the internal logic of the film.
But then, you realise that a vampire film can have whatever vamp-lore it wants and they bolt on the ‘invited’ idea (actually an old vampire myth) and it flips everything so Max is evil after all.
I’m glad you admitted that you don’t get twists until the reveal. So many dickheads say ‘See, I told you it was him’ after saying ‘I bet it’s him’ about every suspect up until the reveal 🤦🏻♂️
