Glitter? (Vampire blood related). *Spoilers, obviously*

When the Frogg brothers kill Marco, Marco's blood spills out all over them (and a bit over Sam). I noticed when they got to the car and were in the sun it looked like they were literally covered in glitter, NOT blood...did any one else notice this? For example, Allen's beret is sparkling when he turns around.

Was it a trick of the light or did the effects people put glitter into the blood to make it look more shiny in the sunlight? It seemed ridiculously sparkly that I can't believe I didn't notice before!

And there were some people making fun of the fact that the Twilight vampires sparkled in the sun...and here's the lost boys bleeding glitter...

Yes. I noticed that when I first saw the movie and wondered why they had it glitter. Never connected it to 'Twilight' though. You might find Bloodsucking Cinema (2007) interesting. I haven't seen it yet.

[There's] a documentary ... called Bloodsucking Cinema.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1194569/

... This documentary addresses the origins and evolution of the vampire in movies from the beginning till about 2007. ... while the popularity of the Twilight series is making some of her diversions from traditional vampire lore more obvious to the general public, by no means is she the first to let vampires walk unaided in the sunlight or even bring a little "glitter" to them.

There's a whole list of people interviewed including John Carpenter, Tom Savini, Stuart Townsend, Joel Schumacher, and many more. ...

The vampire blood is paler and more gelatinous - the film was designed to appeal to kids so they never went overboard on the violence and gore. One of those measures was to hold off from gallons of crimson red blood spraying everywhere.

Kiefer also talks about a scene where he eats someone’s head being heavily reduced: https://youtu.be/y4ERYTdMyPQ
