Strong Bond film. Timothy Dalton gets way too much hate

Seriously, this guy introduced the high energy Bond and darker themed one that were accustomed to today with Brosnan and Craig. People say Timothy Dalton was so bad but I don't see it. I thought he was pretty good and better than Roger Moore. Lazenby was the worst.

You guys should see the marathon I'm doing with all six Bond actors and this movie titled The Best Of The Bonds. You guys can check it out on my blog.

People just weren't ready for it. It was still the Reagan era.

I wouldn't say that it was so much "the Reagan era" (the Cold War was technically, still going on) as much as Dalton's interpretation of Bond was a complete 180 from growing accustomed to 12 years/seven movies out of Roger Moore's light campy version. I don't think that most casual viewers cared or were aware that Timothy Dalton was trying to play a Bond that was closer to the literary source material.

I agree. Most people did not know this was much closer to the bond in the novels. One of the reasons I thought Dalton was the best. Then Came Brosnan and I thought he was just not suited for the role.

I am very impressed with Dalton as Bond! Just the wrong time for him I think, ahead of time.

He is my favorite. The problem was TLD,although my favorite, was underrated and LTK was a low budget, summer release during a writer's strike followed by a 6 year gap. If dalton had made a couple more he may have had a larger fan base.

I never liked Moore's interpretation of Bond, so for me he was the worst. I thought Lazenby did a perfectly adequate job.

I posted this in regards to Octopussy but The Living Daylights was one of my top 5 Bond Films (only behind From Russia With Love, Goldfinger and Skyfall) and I love Maryam D'Abo (better then her cousin Olivia).

For the first few Bonds film that Moore was in. I agree. But the last three films Moore was in I thought he did a good job.A More Real Bond. Of Course after Moonraker you couldn't get more unreal.

I thought Lazenby did a good enough job. I enjoy his film and the way he played a younger bond. I always saw Lazenby as a younger version of the Bond that Dalton would later play.

I thought Timothy Dalton was all right but like Pierce Brosnan better. Maybe it's because I grew up with Roger Moore.

Dalton was badass, probably the toughest and most aggressive Bond. His two films were great. I wish he could have done more.

Timothy Dalton is a fabulous Bond. Just watched him in Penny Dreadful. Still a looker at what, 72?

Timothy Dalton was a great Bond. Handsome, sexy, and his performance shows in a realistic way how a world-weary Bond would be like.

BTW, back in 1989 two brothers named Eric and Lyle Melendez killed their parents for their insurance money. The alibi they gave the police was that they went to see License To Kill, which had just premiered in LA., but the lines were too long, so they went home and "discovered the bodies.
