Blair

What's the deal with her, and Julian? I'm confused as to which guy she was with in the movie because she was was always all over Julian as if he were her boyfriend, and acted as if she knew him better than Clay. My understanding is CLAY was the one who knew him since childhood, not Blair so why was she acting like she was? Did anyone else think of Blair as kind of a skank starved for male attention?

She had known both since childhood. When Clay came home from college for Thanksgiving he discovered that Blair and Julian were now together. He obviously felt betrayed by her being with her best friend, as he cared for her deeply. Later in the movie Blair and Clay get back together.

In the book it is different. Blair loves Clay, and though they are boyfriend and girlfriend he never shows her the love she wants. He seems incapable of feeling strong emotions for people. Clay leaves for college and never calls Blair while he is gone. She picks him up at the airport and mentions this. Overall, the roles are pretty much reversed in the book. Blair seeks love from Clay and does not get it. There is a scene late in the book where Blair and Clay are talking and she asks if he ever loved her. He admits that he never did. Julian and Blair never hook up in the book.

From what I understood in the film they ALL grew up together, but the two that were boyfriend and girlfriend were Clay and Blair. Now when Clay leaves for college Blair and Julian hook up. Remember that Clay asked Blair to go with him and she didn't want to. Well when Clay comes home for a visit he finds Blair and Julian in bed together. So, yeah, she was skankin'.
