Ritchie smoking while up late writing a song reminds me of an old friend. She said she keep a cigarette burning the entire time she was up late writing a paper. I guess it is a mild stimulant. I wouldn't know for certain. I have never used tobacco products.
I have read about his younger days and yes he smoked both illegal and legal substances. He also experimented with a few harder drugs with his older brother.
