watchin' this movie on cable right now.
it's tough watching Bob, it looked like at times he really tried to make things work, but would just end up getting in his own way preventing better things from happening.

Bob had an anger problem. But, he and Ritchie were so young when Ritchie's Dad Steve passed away. Ritchie was only 10 years old and Bob was a few years older. It wasn't like Steve had time to favor his biological son over his stepson. Bob never stole Ritchie's girlfriend, Rosie. That was added to create more drama for the movie. Bob wasn't that much of an a@@hole!

Yeah he was good in this and was my favorite character

I totally agree. Esai's performance added a unintentional comedic side to the movie.

I watched this last night on cable and I have to agree on his performance. He really deserved at least a nomination, not to mention Rosanna DeSoto and Elizabeth Pena supporting roles!
I really can't believe this movie has such low rating. They also did a pretty good job at recreating the 50's, from wardrobe, cars, musical instruments/equipment. Plus the nostalgic factor, I gave this movie a 9.
