Mother Was Part Indian?

I really liked Rosanna DeSoto as Ritchie's mother Connie. I couldn't take my eyes off her. I am not sure why. She was cute, but it was more than that.

I hope someone else remembers this scene better than I do. Connie said something about one of her grandparents being a full blooded Native American. I forget what tribe. What tribe was it? What was her point? Did she mean that was reason not to mess with her?

It was yaki Indian..." my granddaddy was a full blooded yaki Indian "

reply

Thanks for the reply. I always wanted to say I was part Indian, but no one would believe me.

It's Yaqui.

never understood why she blurted that out.. I get that she was pissed that Ritchie didn't get to sing at the garage party.. but what did being Yaqui have anything to do with anything? are they known for raising more hell than other people..?

reply

Maybe the Yaqui were known as fierce warriors.

I am one quarter Irish and it almost never comes up in conversation.

reply

Yes, to what everyone is saying. The Yaqui's reputation is that of being fierce so she was saying "don't mess with us."

In case you're wondering, I'm female.

reply

@lpt 0127 Yeah,I too even thought as a teenager at the time watching it that it was an irrelevant fact to that particular scene.
