I thought he was a perfect choice to play Eddie Cochran. I thought he was awesome when he did Summer Time Blues. I also thought Howard Huntsberry and Marshall Crenshaw were so good as Jackie Wilson and Buddy Holly. Not that Crenshaw was as good as Gary Busey, but he was pretty good. I'm glad when they got actors to play these parts they didn't fool around. I thought they could've picked a better actor to play Jape. Maybe they didn't feel casting an actor for The Big Bopper was as important as getting actors to play Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly, or Jackie Wilson. I wonder if Stephen Lee did any research when he played The Big Bopper. In the movie, you see him briefly, but he seems like a cool guy you'd like to hang around with. He goes around saying, "Hello, baby," in the movie. I wonder if the real guy even did that.

I was surprised recently to find out that Jape was the only one of the three on the plane that had kids. Buddy was married, but had no children and Ritchie was like a baby next to the two of them. If anyone has any information about the relationship between the three, I'd be very interested. Were they all pals? Did they bond while they were touring? In any movie ever made, you never see the three hanging out. The only movie you actually see them together in the most getting along is La Bamba, but it's brief. I'd like to think they were all pals and did get along. They all died together and the three will forever be mentioned in history together.
