When they show Jaws 4 on TV, I always hate when they show the ending with Jake dying. I prefer the ending where he lives. The movie had enough shortcomings. They didn't need to end it with Jake dying.

I took it as the shark didn't finish him off because he really wanted Ellen and Michael. It looked like Hoagie was a goner too , but he survived. I'm glad he did too. I loved Michael Caine in Jaws 4. When the shark is coming after him, I always laugh at the way Michael Caine says, "Oh, ***t." lol

I still don't know what they hell they were doing with the 2 different endings business. I grew up watching the ending where Jake dies, it was always that version on television. Now every version I see is the one where he lives. I do like that Jake lives but man the effects for that ending are atrocious. Like someone just blew up a toy fish and then they re-used the Jaws 1 footage. Did they just run out of money for the most important shot of the film?

However in the version where Jake dies, it's fixed and the shark actually being impaled looks more reasonable as does the entire death of it as it sinks to the ocean floor.

Someone should just edit it to where we have the Jake surviving ending with the better effects.
