The movie had a lot of interesting elements but never really came together to add up to much. The location is fun, Jake and Hoagie are great characters, and a shark attacks a plane. What could the filmmakers have changed or added to make the narrative work?

Instead of killing off Sean, the shark ate Ellen instead? Or jaws ate Michael Caine.
share1. Kept the setting in Amity. A Jaws film taking place during a cold and dreary winter setting would have been awesome! The shark would have looked ten times better in the darker water as well.
2. Ellen could mention feeling cursed but not flat out stating it. Just a feeling in the back of her mind.
3. A couple of more deaths would have been nice.
4. Don't make Michael such a dumb#!*
5. Keep trying to turn Ellen into Ellen Ripley.
I know a winter setting would make it harder since no one would swim, but there's ways around that. Maybe have Michael come to Amity for the funeral as well as investigate why yet another shark has claimed Amity waters again.
amity would be cool, but in the cold winter, you would have to keep coming up with reasons for people to go in the water.
A few more deaths would have helped. Make it more of a horror movie and not so much the psychological thriller it wanted to be. IS the shark real, is it all in her head?
Not have Mrs. Brody in the movie.

Maybe Amity could have been hosting a Polar Bears Club convention and, despite several mysterious disappearances, its head organizer would be reluctant to cancel the big day. Still though, Hoagie and Jake's absence would be felt.
