Just rewatched. The first 20 minutes = pretty good!

I rewatched this after also rewatching 3-D. Maybe it was the forged image of a badly inserted Cindy and Sandy breaching the water idiotically followed by freeze frame that altered my i initial J4 perception? Who knows?

Just get me the hell out of Sea World!

The opening credits were quite good. I like the idea of the shark raising its pov from the above and below the water. I'll admit seeing Lorraine Gary's name was comforting and reassuring.

All this accompanied by Small's fantastic score which is really quite good actually! Had a sense of class unlike the Friday the 13thesque music 3D had.

We're even back in Amity! Awesome! It's Winter no less? I'll take it! It was an interesting touch by the way, made the atmosphere darker.

Sean is the new Deputy and I believed it. He followed/mimicked his father several times before so why not now?

Not too happy Brody is dead ala Heart problems. But I'd hate seeing him get eaten more, and let's face it? Roy Scheider was never coming back. Move on.

Sean's demise was set up extremely well. The yellow slicker, the choir, the darkened cold waters. It would have been much more impacting if they hadn't overdone the fast shark jump cuts shots.

That scene would have been amazingly creepy had they shot the mechanical shark breaching the dark waters when chomping Sean's arm off.

The choir overshadowing his screams of terror worked very well on a disurbing level.

We even get to see Mrs. Taft and evem Mrs. Kinter again! Nice touch.

Lol you know Mrs. Kinter saw Sean's death as a sign of karma sticking it back to the Brody's after losing her own child.

While not perfect had the movie stayed in Amity it could of actually turned out quite good.
