Hellraiser 1-4

im watchin the Hellraisers again from when I first watched them when they came out. I had no idea that 9 had been made, so I watched them with excitement of seeing the infamous Pinhead,

Then I just watched episode 5 and 6, and Omgawd they are boring as hell, the story is all upon a single person and their story, and hardly about the Horror of Pinhead, He's barely even in these two episodes,

Now I'm like I have three more to watch 7-9 but yet I don't even wanna watch them as they are prob the same storyline as the last two I've seen, my Gawd man, why did they ruin this great movie :(

Everything after 4 is very loosely connected to Hellraiser. Hellworld kind of is, but that movie was strange. Most of the others were random scripts that got revised to include Hellraiser elements, which mostly ended up being Pinhead showing up and slashing random people for no good reason.

I enjoyed the sequels other than #9. That one was horrible and had no redeeming features that I can think of. It was made in a week or two to retain the rights to the franchise and it is very obvious in the quality. Pinhead wasnt even played by Doug Bradley, who had stuck out all the other sequels up until this one.

Pinhead slashing random people for no good reason? That sounds more like Hellraiser III than the DTV sequels.

reply

True, he did do a lot of that in III. There was at least some sort of story behind that in III though, while a lot of the sequels just felt like they were using his character as a slasher villain and not the Pinhead we saw in the original movie.

The first two are excellent, 3 and 4 are pretty good, and the rest are garbage.

I thought part 4 was the best one, parts 1 and 2 were style and gore over substance and I remember nothing of 3.

reply

Hold on, Bloodline is the best and the original is style over substance? That's the first time I've ever heard that.

Bloodline shed some light on the backstory of the box and Pinhead has a decent amount of screentime in that film. I didn't really care about the characters from these first 2 installments and the story kicks in far too late in Hellraiser 1.

Nothing about the creation of the box made any sense. It was just a mess of a film. The toymaker made a puzzle box based on some specifications from a crazed evil magician who is into the occult, and who didn't even use the box to summon the demon to start with, yet the toymaker goes right back to work on a theory of how to destroy the demons with light when he didn't even know his box would open doors to the demons to start with? Ugh, silly nonsense that ends on a space station that transforms into a giant lament configuration. Angelique was cool and all, but overall a very stupid movie.

I am not a fan. I just happen to enjoy movies. Fans are embarrassing.

The first Hellraiser is one of my favorite horror movies. The 2nd one is enjoyable and the rest are all over the place. I just recently watched Hellraiser: Revelations which is definitely among the worst of the series

I liked Inferno and the others as well. Revelations was the only one I didnt really care for.
