Kirsty's Nightmare
In my opinion the best scene; Kirsty's nightmare.
Everything about it. The sounds- the shadows- the imagery. Honestly blew me away. Not gonna lie I even got a wave of anxiety during that scene. It was just too realistic of a nightmare to me. I was expecting some cheesy 80s horror movie. The sheets started bleeding- the babies crying got louder. The camera rotates around the bed. The snow is falling. I think my brain was just in disbelief. I was impressed - to say the least. They don't make em like this anymore. I've been going through the horror genre over the past few years- covering a lot of ground too. This one - this one stands out. (U can check out my ratings if u wanna see what I've checked out- it's all there).
See- I've been putting this movie off for over a decade. I remember trying to watch it a couple years ago and the first 1/3 was pretty boring so i fell asleep and never thought to pick it up again.
Took a fat bong rip and finally watched the blu ray last night- alone. I really wasn't expecting it to be this good. I've seen a bunch of threads from "horror experts" or "film experts", people who brag about owning "20,000 films" - saying this is a "bad film". I couldn't disagree more. This is what horror is about. Ive seen one analysis saying this is the epitome of horror - I can't help but agree. Like many critics have noted- I find the serious tone intriguing. "THIS IS NOT FOR YOUR EYES". Like whaaaat? Beyond classic. Good acting by that guy too. His eyes looked genuinely evil- like an otherworldly being. I don't watch horror movies to laugh. That's what the comedy genre is for. I don't need comedic relief either. With horror- Give me that sh** raw u know..? That's what Hellraiser did. The FX reminded me of The Thing... which means they were awesome.
But anyway - anyone else think that scene stands out? Again: it's the dream kirsty has right before she wakes up next to her boyfriend freaking out- probably 40 minutes in.
