Piece of crap

I have more than 20000 films. Well known films, obscure films, restored films, films found only in personal collections, world cinema, hollywood films, french films, iranian films, hindi films, begali films, spanish films, italian films , german films.. all sorts of films .I have actually seen a few true snuff films. I study films, I analyse them, I dissect them, I understand them, I live them, i love them.

I can say with definite authority that Hellraiser is a bad film. The only other film that comes to mind which is as bad as this is Evil Dead. My mind was numb while watching this atrocious piece of crap. I pity all the fools who like this film. This film was not scary, it wasnt a drama and while it took itself too seriously, it bordered on a comedy while never actually make one chuckle or laugh. The blood looked like strawberry sauce, the demons looked like fat opera singers with bad dental hygeine. The CGI was pathetic. What the fruck was this crappy movie was about?

You don't like Evil Dead (I assume the 1981 version), and you don't like Hellraiser. In my opinion, good sir, your taste in horror is questionable. Hellraiser (based on the novel Hellbound Heart) introduced the world to one of the most iconic and recognizable villains ever created. Also, the special effects throughout the film, for the most part, stand up very well to this day.

But this is my opinion, and this film is not for every one.

reply

Ok? If you don't like it, dont watch it. If you have 20,000 other movies that you enjoy, don't waste your time on ones that you dont.

Horror is a strange genre. There are a lot of garbage movies out there in the horror genre. Hellraiser is objectively better than most of them in many ways. Evil Dead is also.

There is no CGI in this movie. It was made in 1986,released in '87 so all its effects are practical. It was also made for just £900,000. Tell me some of the horror movies you DO like, I guarantee they were all made in the last 10 years and have mine of the depth or character development that Hellraiser does.

reply

You do know CGI has been around since 1973, right? Or whatever year Westworld came out as that was the first film to employ the effects. I'm sure there have been several movies between '73 and '86 that have used CGI.

reply

True, but I don't think Hellraiser is one of them. It's doubtful that they could afford any. What is usually mistaken for CGI in the Hellraiser movies is just hand-drawn animation(the electricity/energy effects).

reply

You've just demonstrated that irrespective of how many movies one owns (did you actually BUY them?) this does not guarantee an appreciation of a good film. Stick to the instant gratification the CGI/slasher genres offer and leave the classics to those who understand them.

reply

OOOOH! The OP has 20,0000 films from all genres that he has decided are masterpieces, therefore he's an expert on all things good in film making. Well, pardon me while I play the grand piano! I happen to love Hellraiser, and I don't care if you pity those of us who do. OP is probably a lying POS troll anyway.

You're such a mess, the train wreck stops to watch you!

reply

I liked the blood color, too. And those demons...can open walls and precisely throw heavy hooked chains and whatnot but unable to take a cube out of a girl's hand. And of course she knew exactly how to use the thing. I think some movies are just made for fun rather than actually building up a story. Well, people seem to like it so it worked after all, I'm just part of the minority this time. Happens.

reply

Hey, you have to give the protagonist a fighting chance.

reply

I'm not big on Evil Dead, either. But you're dead wrong about Hellraiser. Fantastic film.

reply

Proof that you can own more films than anyone else, of a wide variety, and still not have good taste.

reply

It sounds like you do not like a certain type of film. It also sounds like you greatly over estimate the value of your opinion due to your film collection. Keep living and loving your films but try to abstain from walking in to a room full of movie buffs and declaring yourself and expert on films. I frankly cant believe how polite these replies are. The internet has been kind to you friend, maybe too kind.
