Where was Dale Dye?

It seems every war movie about Vietnam and WW2 from the late 80's to the present has "Captain Dale Dye, (Ret.)" in some technical advisor or cameo role -- usually as a beleagered company commander or whatnot. Where was the ubiquitous Dale in this movie? It just ain't a war movie it seems, without good ole' Dale leading the charge in another one of his Hollywood-subsidized fantasy wargames!

so far as vietnam movies go, i think it's just this, apocalypse now, and the deer hunter that don't feature him in some capacity. i knew he was in a lot of war flicks, but damn.

baby can you dig your man?
he's a righteous man.

Wasn't he busy making "Platoon" at around that time?

Several of the principal production crew served in Vietnam themselves.
They didn't require Capt. Dye's military advice, as they already had their own.
