JEEZ, what's with this quote???

Did anyone else find the repeating quote in the movie, "it ain't nothin" to be ****ing annoying and corny after awhile?? It made me laugh after awhile.

However corny it is today, it was period slang at the time. Along with "There it is" the "It Don't mean nothing" was something most vets no doubt heard all the time while over there. Wether it was chanted during daps is another issue.

The phrase "don't mean nothin'" was used extensively by troopers in the 101st during latter half of VN war. Read John DelVechio's book 13th valley in order to get a feel for the type of dialogue they spoke.

I didn't find it strange being that to most grunts Vietnam was a place/time to simply survive and get back to civilization. And it really didn't matter what a grunt said or felt because nobody was paying attention except to send them out on an inane mission. People were thrown together and sometimes they only thing they had in common was a need to survive.
