This Movie Scares Me
I was a U.S. Army draftee and arrived in Vietnam April 1, 1968 just hours after LBJ announced he "would not seek or accept another term as President." I was sent north from Bien Hoa on the edge of Saigon to Da Nang. I was told to "pack up, we're going north." Huh? We were 70 Kmz from the DMZ. We went to Khe Sahn, then it started; Ah Sha Valley, Hue, Phu Bai, Chu Lai, all the Hot Spots. Dong Ha, Quang Tri. I survived (ThankYou Lord). I can home with a Big drinking problem but I licked it in April 1977. I'm here today October 1st, 2015. Today I received my DVD of this film and it scares me. Going back to Southeast Asia even with DVD is hard on me. The sound of choppers, the sight of battle hits me hard, very hard; harder than it hits most people. Twice young Americans have asked me to speak on Vietnam, "my dad's name is on the wall"... God Bless Em. I'm gonna watch it now, I'll get back to you. SP5 John US54385737.
